...down to the sea in canoes!
The Dock
The Twin Gables has a
private dock on Skamokawa
Creek. The dock is just a few
steps from the front door of
the B&B and 100 yards from
the Columbia River. The dock's
length is 27 feet, making it the
perfect platform for docking
small cabin cruisers, or
launching or docking canoes,
kayaks or fishing boats.
and paddling skills. The more skilled and adventurous can use their
own watercraft to launch from the Twin Gables dock and explore
Steamboat Slough, Price Island or other parts of the Lower Columbia
estuary.
For day-long river paddles:  We'll pack you a lunch!.
Skamokawa has been a place of water since before Lewis and Clark
arrived. Until the 1930's water was our road. Boats delivered
people and goods in and out of Skamokawa harbor.  Today you can
still reach Twin Gables by water.
The creek is calm most of the
year and summer is a great
time for the novice canoeist or
kayaker to hone their safety
Kayak instructor Ginni Callahan demonstrates in front of Twin Gables how to
board a kayak overtuned in the water.
